When choosing my accommodations, in my opinion stars aren’t as important as the idiosyncratic details that set them apart from others in their league. There are many 5 star hotels that are charge a hefty premium for a basic ass room and you’re lucky if you get complimentary breakfast. That ain’t it sis. I spend time ignoring text messages while scrolling and researching the most rare or exclusive place I can stay in when visiting a country. Sometimes I come up short and have to be basic (a very unfortunate event).

I found this unique Airbnb (click here to save $$$ on your next trip, for real, use my link) called NgongHouse. At first I was blown away by the fact that it’s a treehouse, the bed, the tub (y’all know I love a good tub pic) but it was the price that had me like…

There was a popular treehouse in Atlanta that I wanted to experience. The minimum price was $250 so to find one for less, out the country and way better a value I was $OLD! Here’s what you need to know.

Location

Located in Ngong Hills this place was incredibly convenient. Usually accommodations like these are in west bubble f*ck, off the grid, somewhere you can’t even catch a decent cab. Reserving an Uber was no issue. What I also enjoyed was being a convenient 8 minutes away from popular attraction Giraffe Centre by car, and 20 minutes from city centre. A great tip when booking any accomodation is to pt it into google maps as the starting and put destination you would like to visit as the ending point to see how convenient it would be.

Check-In/Service

I arrived to this private serene gem easily as there is a sign reminding where you are when you arrive, NgongHouse. The check in process was simple. Since my stay was pre-booked, they were expecting me. As I arrived at the gate, I told the security that I was checking in. Concierge met with me and lad me to my treehouse. The walk was scenic walking though flowery gardens.

Room

I’m pretty sure the room is what brought you to this post. The room was the perfect treehouse-luxe aesthetic I was looking for. Though I was traveling solo, this place was spacious and could easily sleep three people as a studio apartment.

The oblong main bed could easily sleep two and there was another bed upstairs which was a surprise. There was also kitchenette with complimentary coffee complete with counter stools, along with a sitting area complete with coffee table.

The attention to detail in the room with art and decor was incredible. The boho chic chestnut wood throughout the room and hallway gave it a natural glow. Leading to my favorite part of the studio, the bathroom and bathtub.

Amenities

There were not much amenities around the property such as breakfast or a pool which wasn’t a deal breaker. On the property there was a restaurant where you can purchase food and drinks.

My stay here was sublime, however do remember this is a tree house in the middle of nature so you will be waking up to birds chirping and there will be bugs lollygaging in your personal space. Thankfully the property does provide bug spray.

For the price and experience this place should definitely be added to your list of places to stay while in Nairobi.

My time at this property was incredible based on the surrreal experience of tree house meets luxury. I would definitely stay here again.
